A Plea

This is a fire and brimstone world
that drags me by the hair
leaving a trail
of blood.
this is a world whose lifebreath is lies.
cruel and blind lies.
but the truth of you keeps my eyes from closing.
the rhythm of your words keeps my heart from stopping.
our heart is stretched taut
a link that will not break
but will pull and pull until we bleed
you and i both
we will bleed

this is a cold world of terror and hate
that has you in a stranglehold
until you choke
and splutter.
this is a world whose lifeblood is deceit.
heartless and unfeeling deceit.
but the truth of me keeps your blood flowing.
the cadence of my words keeps your stomach from turning.
the link will not break.

you have me in your grip
in your hands and in your heart.

Truth, i live for you.

Do not let me go.
Without you i will not breathe.

My heart.
My blood.
My breath.
My life.

This one certainly strikes a chord to me.I find it difficult to appreciate poetry though. All your posts are in some manner, a social commentary - why so?

I should have guessed that..poetry was meant to be personal, in first place(imo).
Now, regarding art not being everyone's domain is a dicey issue.("...you understand why artists like nusrat or ghulam ali touch a deeper chord than someone like daler mehndi or that girl who sang kaanta laga.")Everyone here needs to be catered, according to their tastes. Berating someone is worse than ticking them off. Art is everything around us, else we wouldn't have had a Warhol.

By the way, few of the poems have a 'Published by' comment - So, you've published them?

I don't mean to generalize. Your poems show despair more prominently, then ending on a promising note. Do you intend to expatiate the means, in a real-world sense? Say, some ideology?? What I liked was the humanist approach..(You would know such terms better than I do:))

Finally, was pleased to see Hariprasad Chaurasia on your charts.
(how should one post his/her replies on a blog? Am i supposed to see your blog to check whether you've replied?? I've updated my blog lately)

hey...
i don't mean to say that some musicians are artists and some are not. but i do strongly believe that some art is more deeply emotional than others, and i'm sure you agree. you may not agree with my examples but i'm sure you get my drift.
i'll be the first to declare that art is definitely everything around us. but even warhol was making a personal point. what i'm getting at is that true art has to be honest. it cannot be manufactured for the sake of pleasing the listener/viewer/reader. art without honesty cannot be art at all.
that being said, yes, a couple of my poems have been published, and i'm hoping to see more of my writing published in the future.
as far as an ideology goes, you don't want to get me started. i have very strong, very specific beliefs on what exactly i believe should be done about the problems i write about. but poems can't be written about that, action should be taken. so... that's what i do. i write about the problems i see and that pain me, and then i try to figure out what i can do to actively do my part in solving them. i am an idealist and a humanist, and ideology is what drives even my art.
and finally, yes, i listen to hariprasad chaurasia. i'm a classical musician.
reply tracking - i'm not entirely sure:) i think it makes the most sense for me to reply here, perhaps you can check back here.
